Case study: General medical condition diagnosis
We see many patients who have been diagnosed incorrectly elsewhere. Thanks to our in-depth investigations, we can provide a successful diagnosis and treatment the first time around.
Here is an example of how we were able to help a patient who had received a previously incorrect diagnosis at a different clinic:
We were contacted by a male patient who had received treatment for high blood pressure for the past eight years. His previous healthcare provider found it difficult to treat and control his blood pressure. After undergoing investigations for causes of secondary hypertension at The Coker Chest Clinic, the patient’s results revealed a secreting adenoma (a benign tumor originating in glandular tissue), which indicated Conn’s syndrome.
We organised an ultrasound of the abdomen to confirm the diagnosis, during which we also found a second secreting adenoma on the opposite side of the abdomen. We arranged for surgical removal of the adenomas. The patient successfully recovered and no longer has high blood pressure or associated symptoms.
